Bruno shines as Portugal see off Slovakia

Napoli's Stanislav Lobotka did grab another for Slovakia to make it 3-2 in Porto, but it was Roberto Martinez's side who booked their spot at next summer's tournament in Germany with victory.

Fellow United team-mate Diogo Dalot also played the full 90 minutes in Porto, as Portugal extended their lead at the top of Group J to eight points over second-placed Slovakia in the process.

Bruno, who marked his 59th cap for his country in fine form, next face-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday in Zenica.

Elsewhere around Europe, England were also in action, as they faced Australia in an international friendly at Wembley Stadium, emerging as 1-0 victors.

Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins netted the only goal of the game, as he tapped home Jack Grealish's cross from close range after 57 minutes played.

United forward Marcus Rashford replaced Grealish just after the hour mark, coming on to feature against the nation he made his international debut against back in 2016.

Fellow club team-mate Harry Maguire was an unused sub, with England now preparing to take on Italy in their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier on Tuesday evening (19:45 BST).
