Bruno Fernandes: Ole, players and fans react to his debut

Saturday 01 February 2020 21:58

Bruno Fernandes received lots of praise following his Manchester United debut at Old Trafford against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Portuguese midfielder made his first Premier League appearance in the 0-0 draw with Wolves on Saturday. Despite not coming away with a win, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was happy with Fernandes’s debut.

The Norwegian expects more good things to come from our new no.18.

"Bruno is a top player. It's the first game. First half, everyone was getting the ball into feet and Bruno is one of those who, when he gets it into feet, he wants players moving in front of him and we didn't.

“He'll be a top addition,” said Solskjaer.

The manager felt the Reds were the better of the two sides, but that 0-0 was an honest reflection of the game…

‘A FANTASTIC PLAYER’

Victor Lindelof, who also made the change from Portuguese football to United, was happy with his new team-mate’s first performance in the red shirt.

“It's not easy to come in here. I think he's had one training session and to come in and play is not easy, but I think he did a good job and showed what kind of qualities he can give us.

“So hopefully now when we have the break he can train a bit more with the team, get to know all the players and everything and then I think it's going to be much easier for him as well,” the Swedish centre-back said about the former Sporting Lisbon captain.

Fellow defender Luke Shaw was also pleased for the Portuguese debutant and is eager to see how he can perform at the Theatre of Dreams.

“He is a fantastic player and everyone knows he is. Today was not an easy game to come into but I thought he did well and there are good signs of things to come. We will all help him and we have a nice training camp to come and make him feel welcome,” said the left-back.

OTHER REACTION TO FERNANDES'S DEBUT

United fans were clearly happy with our new signing, voting him the Man of the Match with 48 per cent of the votes on the Official Manchester United app.

“A constant threat from range,” @StatmanDave wrote on Twitter after his three shots from outside the box.

“I reckon that was a good performance from Bruno Fernandes. Just have to give him time to settle in properly with the rest of the team”, @Vintage_Utd said on Twitter.

"Happy with my debut. Looking forward to the next game and grabbing the three points," the man himself said on Twitter!
