Why Bruno 'felt' your support
Bruno Fernandes has thanked the Old Trafford crowd for sticking with him and the team during Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea, despite his early penalty miss.
Our captain had the opportunity to give us a ninth-minute lead, after the Video Assistant Referee spotted a foul by Enzo Fernandez on Antony in the Blues' box.
Fernandes had successfully slotted away his two previous penalties this season, against Nottingham Forest and FC Copenhagen, but saw his effort parried away by Robert Sanchez.
Great performance today 💪🏼

Thanks for all the support during the game and even more after the penalty. I felt that ❤️ pic.twitter.com/kf9JmFiaid
A brace from Scott McTominay, either side of Cole Palmer’s individual strike, was enough for Erik ten Hag’s side to take all three points on a stirring night at the Theatre of Dreams.
And, when posting on social media after the game, Bruno clearly appreciated the backing of the fans following a difficult few days.
“Great performance today,” our no.8 posted on social media.
“Thanks for all the support during the game and even more after the penalty. I felt that.”
Bruno has now taken 31 spot-kicks during matches since signing for United in January 2020 and, notably, he has failed to score on just four occasions.
Sanchez became just the second goalkeeper, after Newcastle United’s Karl Darlow, to save a Fernandes penalty for United.
The Portuguese missed the target with efforts against Aston Villa and Arsenal during the 2021/22 Premier League season.
