Casemiro confirms touching medal gesture
Casemiro has revealed why he felt it was important that Tyrell Malacia felt part of last season's Emirates FA Cup final success.
The Brazilian encouraged the defender, who made his long-awaited return from injury in Thursday's Europa League win over Bodo/Glimt, to go up the steps at Wembley, following the 2-1 victory over Manchester City.
Malacia even picked up the midfielder's medal and the touching gesture says a lot about the much-decorated South American's attitude and compassion.
Casemiro: United Centurion
UNITED CENTURION | After reaching 100 appearances - now 101 - Casemiro opens up on his deep affection for our fans...
"There are many ways to lead, many ways to do it," Casemiro said in his big exclusive interview with United Review, the official programme for the Everton clash this weekend.
"I didn't know Malacia had spoken about that. I didn't really think about it, it just happened. Attitude, being an example, leading, is not just about talking.
"But it's true and I gave him my medal. He hadn't played any games that season, so he didn't want to go up to get his medal.
"I took him up and there wasn't one for him, so I gave him mine.
"He is part of the squad and we count on him. While he was out for that season, he is loved and we need him, and he needs love too."
Malacia continues to make his comeback and was named among the substitutes for the Toffees encounter.
