Casemiro fears he will be holding back tears
Casemiro has admitted in an exclusive interview with club media that he is expecting an emotional farewell from Manchester United.
The brilliant Brazilian is adored by the club's supporters, which is going to make it difficult to say goodbye, as he heads for pastures new at the end of his contract.
With seven games to go in the Premier League, the 34-year-old is hoping to finish on a high, with his excellent form helping to ensure the Reds are on course for a top-four finish and a place in next season's UEFA Champions League.
As part of a specal interview featuring questions posed by our fans, with thousands of well-wishing responses received beforehand, Casemiro opened up on how much representing United has truly meant to him and his family.
The conversation will be released in two parts across our official channels, with the first video to come on Wednesday.
Casemiro opens up on United fans' chant
In a clip from our exclusive Q&A, Casemiro reveals just how attached he has become to the Reds...
Our opening question was the one most people wanted to ask and centred on the Stretford End chanting 'One more year' to him, both during and after the last first-team game at Old Trafford, the 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.
Casemiro scored the opening goal of the important triumph against our rivals for a Champions League slot, taking his tally for the campaign to seven.
He admits he was moved by the response from the crowd, who made their feelings clear about his value to the team.
"Honestly, there is no explanation," he told us. "All I can do is be grateful, because I am really enjoying myself a lot.
"Not just me, but all my family. It is an honour for us to listen to the fans' love and affection.
"Lots of people think it is just the last few months, since the announcement, but I have to be thankful, since the very first day that I arrived here, the fans have been amazing with me and my family.
"So, I am so grateful to the fans, and the United fans, I am going to remember for the rest of my life."
One of the fans' questions, from Kevin in the United Kingdom, asked if Casemiro was having the best time at the moment, as he regularly shows how much he is enjoying being such a key part of Michael Carrick's side, with his celebrations bringing smiles to the supporters' faces.
Although he obviously has a reputation for being a fearsome midfield enforcer on the pitch, the South American's answer revealed just how much he loves playing for the club he joined in 2022 from Real Madrid, and exactly how attached he is, emotionally, to Old Trafford.
"Well, honestly I feel so happy, especially for the affection from the fans, and the respect they have for me," he stated.
"So, it's just gratitude for this love, it is so exciting.
"I am hoping not to cry on my last day, as it is such a beautiful experience. My wife already cried, the other day, when the fans were asking for one more year.
"So, I just want to enjoy it, enjoy all the moments and I will be a United fan for the rest of my life."
Our final home game is currently scheduled for Sunday 17 May, when we welcome Nottingham Forest to the Theatre of Dreams.
The last fixture of the season is a week later, when Carrick's men travel south to face Brighton & Hove Albion.
Casemiro is currently away on international duty with Brazil, with a friendly against Croatia being held in Orlando in the early hours (UK time) of Wednesday morning, with team-mate Matheus Cunha also in the squad.
The Reds do not play again until Monday 13 April, when Leeds United cross the Pennines for an eagerly awaited Premier League clash.
Look out for the first section of the Casemiro Q&A across our official channels on Wednesday.
