How the last-16 draw teed up a blockbuster month

Tuesday 14 December 2021 13:02

There was so much to dissect and discuss when the Champions League draw was completed for a second time on Monday afternoon, pairing Manchester United with Atletico Madrid.

The anticipated UEFA ceremony became a trending topic of conversation after a technical problem meant the initial draw result - which had matched us up with Paris Saint-Germain - had to be scrapped.

Three hours later, an unprecedented redraw took place and Ralf Rangnick’s Reds were eventually given a fascinating tie against Diego Simeone’s respected La Liga champions.

In case you missed it, the first leg will take place at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Spain on Wednesday 23 February, before the return fixture is held at Old Trafford on Tuesday 15 March.
