Eriksen named in Denmark's provisional squad

Christian Eriksen has, as expected, been named in Denmark's provisional squad for the World Cup finals in Qatar.

The Manchester United playmaker is a key figure for his country, after amassing 117 caps and scoring 39 goals.

Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand has not finalised his group for the tournament but he has confirmed 21 of the places, with five still up for grabs and 12 players apparently vying for inclusion when the final squad is submitted.

Christian Eriksen is a vital part of Denmark's plans for Qatar.

Eriksen was the youngest player to appear at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, aged 18, and he scored a hat-trick in the play-off win over Republic of Ireland that sealed a berth at the finals in Russia four years ago, before netting in the group-stage draw with Australia. The Scandinavian nation were knocked out by Croatia in the round of 16, following a penalty shoot-out.

As Denmark did not qualify in 2014, this will be the 30-year-old's third tournament and, of course, his first as a United player.
