Date confirmed for United's Carabao Cup tie

The third-round match at Old Trafford has been selected for live TV coverage in the UK, on Sky Sports, and will therefore be played on Thursday 10 November at 20:00 GMT.

Another tie between two Premier League teams, Manchester City v Chelsea, will be broadcast on the same channel 24 hours earlier.

The visit from Steven Gerrard's side will be the second clash in five days between the clubs.

United will firstly go to Villa Park on Sunday 6 November for a Premier League game but although that will kick off at 14:00 GMT, it won't be shown live on TV in the UK.

The weekend meeting in the West Midlands has been moved from its original slot on Saturday due to the Reds having a Europa League fixture on the preceding Thursday night, away to Real Sociedad (17:45 GMT).

The winners between United and Villa in the Carabao Cup will play in one of the first domestic games when the season resumes after the World Cup final in Qatar. The fourth-round ties are due to be staged in the week commencing 19 December.
