David De Gea: We missed a chance
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea was left ruing a missed opportunity, after the Reds were held to a 0-0 draw at Arsenal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side set a new club record of 18 league games unbeaten away from home with the point at the Emirates Stadium, but it could have been more, with Edinson Cavani twice going close after half-time.
The Spaniard made a good save from Emile Smith Rowe and saw Alexandre Lacazette’s free-kick smash his crossbar, but De Gea was in no doubt as to who deserved the points.
“We feel disappointed in the dressing room,” De Gea admitted to club media.
De Gea: We created enough to score
David says the dressing room is down after our draw with Arsenal, but maintains there are some positives to take...
“We feel we missed a chance to beat Arsenal today. I think we did enough, we created enough chances to win.
“Maybe [they dominated] just the 10 minutes they had in the second half. We had our good chances as well, but we did enough to win today.
“If we want to win, we have to score the chances.”
It’s the first time in almost three months that the Reds have failed to win two successive Premier League games.
But De Gea isn’t too worried with today’s performance and highlights that there’s another opportunity to get three points on the board when we welcome Southampton to Old Trafford on Tuesday, at 20:15 GMT.
“Yeah, that happens in football,” added David. “Sometimes you create enough to score; you create chances and play well but the ball doesn’t want to touch the net so you can do nothing.
Solskjaer: We weren't clinical enough
The boss was pleased we controlled much of the game, but says we have to be more ruthless...
“[We have to] be ready for the next one – it’s a big one again – and try to score the chances we missed today.
“Games are coming quick, many, many games. It’s a big one against Southampton.
“They’re a good team, so it’s going to be a good fight.”
