Early team news for Liverpool v United

Wednesday 15 October 2025 13:10

Manchester United will hope all of our international players report back to Carrington fit and well, after their international exertions during the break.

There were some eye-catching involvements from the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu, Casemiro, Matheus Cunha and Amad, while Diego Leon made his senior debut for Paraguay.

Although Ayden Heaven was forced off in England Under-20s' game against Switzerland, there have thankfully been no other reports of any injuries to our Reds in this period.

Noussair Mazraoui linked up with the Morocco camp, despite being sidelined for our previous two matches, but did not feature for the Atlas Lions, as they finished their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 100 per cent record.

The 27-year-old defender was excellent in the win over Chelsea but sat out the games against Brentford and Sunderland, with boss Ruben Amorim not expecting him to return until after this break.

Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez continues to step up his recovery from a knee operation. The Argentina international scored in last term's 2-2 draw at Liverpool.

Amorim is set to hold his press conference on Friday to preview the game and probably provide an update on the squad situation.

As for the hosts, Alisson's thigh injury means he is a major doubt for the 16:30 BST kick-off, although he has not been completely ruled out yet by Arne Slot.

Ibrahima Konate returned early from France duty and Wataru Endo did not link up with the Japan squad for their friendlies against Paraguay and Brazil.

Ryan Gravenberch came off for the Netherlands in their win over Finland but stressed afterwards it was only as a precaution.

Summer recruit Giovanni Leoni tore his anterior cruciate ligament on his debut, in the Carabao Cup victory against Southampton, and is set to be sidelined for a year.
