Ten Hag pleased with Rashford's workouts

Erik ten Hag was pleased to see Marcus Rashford working intensely during the international break.

The Manchester United forward posted video on his social channels of some sessions with the RH Elite Coaching business run by former Reds schoolboy Ryan Hopper.

A section of the footage was filmed at Ashton United while other clips showed the 2022/23 Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year hard at it in the gym.

With the homegrown Academy product unlucky not to at least claim an assist, when setting up two good chances for Joshua Zirkzee in the defeat to Liverpool, he will be determined to cause problems for Southampton in Saturday's early kick-off.

ERIK EXCLUSIVE | The manager is asked about Malacia and Rashford, while we hear from Saints boss Russell Martin…

When asked about Rashford's preparation during the break, Ten Hag told MUTV's Mark Sullivan in our exclusive club media interview: "The players have to find a good balance between relaxation and keep going, keep in the rhythm you are in.

"Experienced players can manage it by themselves and it’s very good that they are away from the club but do the right things, do the right drills, do the right load. Because when they are back, we also train and that has to be combined with our training, of course.”

Rashford was back at Carrington this week, taking part in the main session captured by our cameras on Thursday.

Our no.10 will hope his work with a private coach will ensure he is firing on all cylinders as the Reds look to get back to winning ways by beating the newly promoted Saints in the 12:30 BST kick-off.

Marcus has previously scored twice against the south-coast side and will be out to get off the mark for the campaign.
