Sevilla v United: The Essential Info

The Reds will play at Stadion Koln once again – the site of our 1-0 quarter-final victory over FC Copenhagen, after extra-time, on Monday evening – and, as in the last round, the tie will be contested over just one leg, due to the restructured format.

 

We last reached this stage of the Europa League in 2017, where we faced another Spanish side, Celta Vigo. United triumphed 2-1 on aggregate thanks to a Marcus Rashford free-kick in Vigo and a Marouane Fellaini header at Old Trafford.

There were six changes to the starting XI for the Copenhagen game, and five substitutions were made during the course of the 120 minutes of football. So there's every chance that Ole will continue to rotate his team as this gruelling season nears its conclusion. Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof both played no part in the 2-1 victory over LASK in the last round, and didn't enter the field until the 70-minute mark against Copenhagen, so they are two possible candidates for a starting berth against the Andalusians. Should we negotiate the stiff challenge presented by Sevilla, we'll meet either Internazionale or Shakhtar Donetsk in the final – which,  like our quarter-final and semi-final, will take place at Stadion Koln. The Nerazzurri beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 to reach the semis, while the Ukrainians swept Basel aside 4-1. The pair meet at the Dusseldorf Arena 24 hours after our game with Sevilla, to decide who will join the winners of our last-four tie in the Europa League's climactic fixture.
