Leeds Youth Cup tie to be staged at Old Trafford

Tuesday 28 January 2020 11:30

Manchester United's FA Youth Cup fifth-round tie with Leeds United will be held at Old Trafford.

The clash, a repeat of the 1993 final, which was won by the Yorkshiremen over two legs despite the presence of numerous future stars in the Reds' line-up, is taking place on Wednesday 5 February, with a 19:00 GMT kick-off.

Admission details are still to be confirmed but the game is being shown live on MUTV.

The tie must be decided on the night, with extra-time and penalties if required.

Lead coach Neil Ryan's side have already progressed past Lincoln City and Norwich City in this season's competition.

"It's a tasty one," said Ryan. "Definitely a romantic one for a Manchester United fan. It's going to be tough and another really exciting night hopefully."

We last lifted the trophy in 2011, for a record 10th time, by beating Harry Maguire's Sheffield United in the final.

The victors will be at home to Wigan Athletic or Birmingham City in the quarter-finals.
