Rooney and Valencia link up once more

Former Manchester United captains Wayne Rooney and Antonio Valencia recently met up at DC United.

The MLS club, managed by Rooney, hosted his former United team-mate, with Valencia posting his thanks on Instagram.

The pair enjoyed a wonderful connection during their time at Old Trafford and it is good to see that the bond between them is just as strong as ever.

Watch Rooney's cool finish from Valencia's cross, against Liverpool when we beat them 3-0 at Old Trafford in 2014.

"What a joy to see my friend @WayneRooney, driving in Washington again," wrote Valencia.

"Keep going strong, brother.

"Thanks @WayneRooney for the invitation."

The Rooney-Valencia combination was often a source of goals for the Reds, with the latter normally providing the assist for the England striker. This was clearly the case in the 2009/10 season, when they were particularly lethal together.

Antonio was also United skipper between 2018 and 2019, taking over the armband from Michael Carrick, who had inherited the honour from Rooney the season before.

It's great to see the Reds duo keeping in touch following their time at Old Trafford!
