Manchester United midfielder Fred set a 2022/23 Premier League high for one particular stat in the Reds' 2-0 win against Leeds United.

According to Opta Analyst, the Brazilian won eight tackles during the game against our rivals at Elland Road. This is the most tackles by a Premier League player in a single game since Kyle Walker-Peters also made eight for Southampton against Fulham on Boxing Day 2020, over two years ago.

United's no.17 also won Sky Sports' Man-of-the-Match award. The channel gave a breakdown of why he received the award. Fred not only made eight tackles, he made the most intensive runs in the game with 292, ran 10km in distance, gained possession 11 times, succeeded in 11 duels and mustered eight final-third entries.

Fred has been important for United this season, making 31 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring four goals and registering two assists. He has worked alongside fellow Brazilian Casemiro at the heart of Erik ten Hag's midfield, as well as Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay and Marcel Sabitzier, who started alongside him against Leeds on Sunday.

During the early moments of the game, Fred did pick up a yellow card for a tackle on Crysencio Summerville but kept his composure to ensure there was no further caution, despite the frenetic and aggressive nature of the occasion.

The South American has happy memories of Elland Road as he managed to score in last season's fixture against Leeds at Eland Road. The goal came in United's 4-2 win in February 2022, after linking up with Jason Sancho, Fred bagged our third goal in that victory.

After a challenging game in midweek, during the 2-2 draw as he partnered Sabitzer for the first time, the popular midfield man was back to his best form in West Yorkshire and his efforts were certainly appreciated by the travelling Reds.
