The most special moment of Fred's United career so far

Fred has described the most special moment of his Manchester United career so far and his answer is a marker of the man he is.

The 29-year-old has now made more Reds appearances than any other Brazilian player and, rightly so, he is incredibly proud of that achievement.

Fred overtook his fellow midfielder Anderson with his outing against Arsenal and he is excited by what the future holds under Erik ten Hag, with United being the only English club still in four competitions this season.

“I feel tremendously proud to have achieved this milestone,” the smiling no.17 told us at Carrington on Thursday. “To become the Brazilian with the most Manchester United appearances isn't easy.

“Playing at a massive club and achieving this makes me very proud and I have to thank everybody who supported me.

“I thank the club for opening their doors to me, I thank the fans for their support. It's such an honour to achieve this here at the club.”

When asked if he has any standout memories from his United career so far, Fred pointed to a 1-1 draw against Wolves back in September 2018 – which sounds odd, but as a family man he had a great reason.

“I think there are many special moments here in a Manchester United shirt,” he smiled. “Unfortunately, we haven't won a trophy yet, but I'm sure that this season it will come.

“I think my first goal was my most important memory, my wife was pregnant, and I could celebrate for my son. I think it was one of my most special moments in a Manchester United shirt. There have been many moments of tremendous joy I've experienced here, I'm just very grateful for them.”
