Flowers of Manchester: A poignant read

Manchester United supporters can learn more about the Munich Air Disaster by reading a free digital book.

The Flowers Of Manchester is a commemorative publication that was first issued as a printed hardback to fans who attended the home fixture closest to the 60th anniversary of the tragedy, against Huddersfield Town in February 2018.

Containing 76 pages that can now be easily read online, it tells the full story of the Busby Babes from their breakthrough into the first team to their legacy.

The book also contains short profiles of the 23 people whose lives were lost in the crash - including eight United players and three club officials - as well as the 21 other passengers and crew members who survived.

The detailed, insightful and poignant book is a recommended read for all United supporters wishing to form a deeper understanding of the Munich story.

This year's commemorations at Old Trafford include the players wearing black armbands and interim manager Ralf Rangnick laying a wreath before this Friday evening's FA Cup fixture against Middlesbrough, followed by a memorial service on the anniversary itself this Sunday, starting at 14:40 GMT.

Any fans who are unable to be at the stadium can watch the service live, and later on demand, for free on ManUtd.com and the Manchester United App.
