Maguire looking ahead with Amorim
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire says he is excited to see what the future holds under Ruben Amorim.
The Reds completed a fine comeback to beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, thanks to late strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Amad.
Maguire played the entirety of the contest against our crosstown rivals, thwarting key men Phil Foden and Erling Haaland on multiple occasions.
Speaking to the media after the game, the Three Lions international insisted things are starting to take shape under our new head coach.
Maguire in focus
🧱 STALWART | Harry Maguire's 250th Premier League appearance was full of tough-tackling and pure passion...
“But, yeah, I think his demands, he’s tactically very good. He’s proven that he’s a winner.
“And, look, we’re still pretty new. I think he’s been here a month now or so, and we’re really looking forward to where we can go and where we can take this club, and I’m sure he’ll take it in a positive way.”
Focus has been firmly fixated on Amad's heroics, given his strike against the reigning Premier League champions now takes his total for the season to four goals.
Maguire has been impressed by the young Ivorian, but also nodded that the 22-year-old must continue to knuckle down on the training pitch.
Amad: It's always nice to beat them
You can't watch Amad's post-match interview, after his late winner at Man City, without smiling...
“I’m sure he’ll get loads of experience playing in these big matches, and I’m sure he’s got a big future for this club.
“We’re happy that he’s doing well, but, like I said, still a long way to go. He’s got a big job to help us climb the table and to improve this club.”
