How to watch and follow Sheriff v United

Monday 12 September 2022 07:00

Manchester United's second Europa League Group E clash is set to go ahead on Thursday evening, as Erik ten Hag's side travel to Moldova to face Sheriff Tiraspol.

Beginning our 2022/23 European journey with defeat against Real Sociedad just last week, the Reds will be looking to bounce back against opponents we are yet to face in our 144-year history.

In the second of our six group games and the first away from Old Trafford, United will hope to register three valuable points, after our Premier League contest at Crystal Palace was postponed at the weekend.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the clash...

TEAM NEWS

With Erik ten Hag due to address the media on Wednesday,  Anthony Martial is hopefully closing on a return soon. Luke Shaw is also another who has been absent, given his non-inclusion in the matchday squad against Real Sociedad. Donny van de Beek has also been missing in recent weeks and Facundo Pellistri has an ankle injury.

The boss shuffled his pack for the Real Sociedad game and handed a senior debut to Charlie McNeill as a late substitute.

FORM GUIDE

Having seen our last domestic action postponed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, United have not featured since our outing against Real Sociedad last week.

Suffering a 1-0 defeat, Ten Hag's side will have been working hard on the training pitch to ensure a positive result on Thursday evening, following four consecutive wins in the Premier League.

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have started the season in strong form, with the England internationals no doubt bidding to make an impact in Chisinau.

Sheriff began their Europa League campaign with an impressive 3-0 away win over Omonia Nicosia last week. Goals from Ibrahim Akanbi Rasheed, Iyayi Believe Atiemwen and Mouhamed Diop secured the victory, with the Wasps currently occupying top spot in Group E.

ONES TO WATCH

Guinean international forward Momo Yansane could be one United will have to keep tabs on, given his tally of 12 goals for Stjepan Tomas's side last season. Fellow striker Iyayi Atiemwen is also considered a handful too, given his former pedigree with Dinamo Zagreb. Finding the net twice already this season, the 26-year-old will be bidding to build on his European tally. Finally, fellow countryman to Atiemwen, Akanbi is perhaps Sheriff's most dangerous forward, known for his speed and trickery down the left flank. Registering five goals and two assists in 13 games so far this season, the Nigerian moved from Turkish side Kocaelispor this summer and has certainly hit the ground running in Moldova.
