Atletico Madrid v United Women: TV info, team news & more

Tuesday 14 October 2025 11:00

Manchester United Women face Atletico Madrid in our second league-phase outing of the UEFA Champions League.

It follows our opening victory over Norwegian outfit Valerenga last week at the Progress with Unity Stadium, as we look to build on that perfect start.

The match comes as our first away trip of the competition proper, against an Atletico side who have also made a productive opening to their European campaign.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the game...

HOW TO WATCH AND FOLLOW

Our 17:45 BST kick-off against Las Rojiblancas is set to be streamed live on Disney+, the rights holder for the Women's Champions League from this season.

As with our first outing in the competition last week, MUTV's Liam Bradford will be hosting an exclusive watchalong from 17:30 BST – to be streamed across MUTV, the United App and on our official YouTube channel – where he will be joined by an expert panel of guests.

We'll also be bringing you our regular matchday offering, including on-location live updates throughout the day, exclusive interviews and interactive content across our channels.

Stay tuned to our platforms throughout Thursday to ensure you don't miss a beat.

TEAM NEWS

Heading into last weekend's game against Everton, our primary injury concerns were Leah Galton, Millie Turner and Celin Bizet Donnum.

Based on Marc Skinner's pre-match comments, Galton seemed the closest to a return, having been absent since the end of last season, and duly did appear for the final 10 minutes of our trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium so will, presumably, be available for selection once again this week.

The latter pair were absent from the matchday squad on Merseyside, with Turner confirmed to be out until around Christmas, so it remains to be seen what progress Bizet Donnum has made ahead of our clash in Spain.

An update on that situation, and any further team news, could be delivered by Skinner in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game.

FORM GUIDE

The Reds have made an incredible start to the season on all fronts, registering just one loss so far, which came against Brann on our road to qualification in this competition.

We kicked off our Champions League campaign with a slender 1-0 victory over Valerenga, thanks to captain Maya Le Tissier's goal from the spot, and rounded off a productive week with a 4-1 comeback victory against the Toffees, with Melvine Malard and Jess Park (2) on the scoresheet for that one, alongside a Hikaru Kitagawa own goal.

As United look to make it three wins from three, our Spanish opponents will be hoping to bounce back from a humbling 6-0 defeat to Barcelona in Liga F on Sunday evening.

Nevertheless, they have proven to be sturdy opposition on the continent, defeating Austrian side SKN St. Polten 6-0 in the first round of Champions League fixtures, a margin that shot them to first place in the league-phase table.

HOW THE COMPETITION WORKS

The Women's Champions League format for this season is slightly different to 2024/25, following the same structure adopted in the men's game last term.

Instead of a 16-team group stage split into four pools, this season will see 18 sides competing in a single league table.

Where each team used to play each other twice, home and away, under the old system, clubs will now face six different sides, with the venue decided as part of the draw. For United, it means facing Valerenga, Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon at home, and Atletico, Wolfsburg and Juventus away.

The top four sides at the end of those six games will proceed automatically to the quarter-finals, while teams placed fifth to 12th will entered a two-legged play-off to reach the knockout rounds. Sides in 13th and below will be automatically eliminated.
