Watch the U21s Manchester derby on Sunday

Friday 17 March 2023 14:23

Manchester United Under-21s are set to take on local rivals Manchester City on Sunday lunchtime, with our Premier League 2 clash live on MUTV.

As the Leicester City fixture was postponed, the young Reds were last in action against Chelsea 11 days ago, losing 3-1 at Leigh Sports Village, despite a good performance.

Joe Hugill was on target in the defeat to the Blues, with the 19-year-old having now found the net nine times for Mark Dempsey's side this season, in addition to getting off the mark for Altrincham, against York City, as part of his youth loan move.

Ahead of the upcoming clash this weekend, here's all the information you need...

HOW TO FOLLOW

The match is set to take place at Manchester City's Academy Stadium at the Etihad Campus, with the game, as mentioned, live on MUTV on Sunday.

Kick-off is set for 12:00 GMT and proceedings will also be shown live in the United App, allowing you to follow the Reds from your mobile device, wherever you are.

Regular updates from half-time and full-time will be available for you to view, while highlights will be also become available shortly after the full-time whistle.

FORM GUIDE

United are currently seventh in Premier League 2, having suffered just one defeat since the turn of the calendar year domestically.

Our loss to Chelsea was our first since November, with our young Reds looking to avenge the 6-1 defeat we suffered against City back in November last year.

Hopefully, our side will still be full of confidence heading into Sunday's derby clash, having found the net 16 times in our last eight games in all competitions.

As for our opponents, City are second in the table and sit just one point behind league leaders Chelsea heading into the contest.

Forward Carlos Borges has found the net 15 times in 18 appearances for Brian Barry-Murphy's side this season and netted four goals in the return fixture earlier this term.

Losing just two games so far, the Blues have found the net 57 times, conceded a league low of just 23 strikes too.
