How to watch and follow United v Brentford

Wednesday 04 October 2023 16:59

Manchester United are back in action this weekend, as we look to return to winning ways in the Premier League against Brentford.

The Reds have sustained back-to-back defeats across the last week, with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the league preceding a breathless encounter with Galatasaray in the Champions League that resulted in a dramatic 3-2 loss.

However, Erik ten Hag’s men can take confidence from our home record against the Bees, who have failed to beat us at Old Trafford since their promotion to the top flight.

Read on for our detailed guide on how to keep up with the action on Saturday…

WHAT IS THE TEAM NEWS?

Despite picking a red card in our defeat to Galatasaray on Tuesday evening, Casemiro will be eligible for selection for the Brentford game due to the ban applying to UEFA competitions only.

After missing the Palace game last weekend, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay returned to the matchday squad in the UCL, with the former featuring in the second half. Sergio Reguilon was not involved.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, and Lisandro Martinez are all long-term absentees for the Reds, while young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo recently returned to first-team training.

Brentford are on a winless run in the Premier League since their second game of the new term that saw them thump Fulham 3-0. They will be without Josh Dasilva and Shandon Baptiste for this encounter, both of whom are long-term absentees, while talisman Ivan Toney continues to serve his suspension.

Eriksen returned to action for United on Tuesday.

WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME WE MET?

The last time we faced Brentford came last term, at home in the Premier League. Marcus Rashford proved the difference maker once more, volleying home the sole goal of the game in emphatic fashion.

Prior to that was a particularly forgettable afternoon outing away to the Bees, in which the Reds were thumped 4-0 - all four goals coming in the first half in just our second league game under Ten Hag.
