How to follow Forest v United

Friday 14 April 2023 14:58

Next up for Manchester United is a trip to The City Ground on Sunday to take on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

The match follows Thursday's action-packed Europa League quarter-final first leg against Sevilla, where the Reds drew 2-2 with our Andalusian visitors.

Forest will be present a different task on Sunday, though, with Steve Cooper's side looking to climb the table after dropping into the bottom three on goal difference.

Ahead of our fixture at The City Ground, here’s everything you need to know about both sides, the essential broadcast information, and more…

The game is set to start at 16:30 BST on Sunday 16 April and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK, while you will also be able to keep up with the action as it unfolds in the United App and on ManUtd.com.

MUTV will also be showing our Match Day Live show from 15:25 BST, where we will bring you exclusive pre-match opinion and post-match reaction. Live radio commentary will be available throughout the 90 minutes.

WHEN CAN YOU SEE THE HIGHLIGHTS?

Short highlights of the game will be available two hours after the final whistle, with the 90 in 20 and Full 90 versions being published across our platforms at midnight.

WHAT'S THE TEAM NEWS?

Erik ten Hag said after the Sevilla match that he "did not know" if Marcus Rashford would be available for the Forest game due to the muscle issue he suffered against Everton last week.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez were both forced off during the midweek Europa League clash, and have been ruled out by the boss for Sunday's fixture.

Ten Hag did offer positivity with regards to Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay, however, with the duo also missing for Thursday's quarter-final first leg.

In his pre-match press conference before Sunday's Forest trip, he said: "For Sunday, yeah, [they] could be [involved]. But we have to see. We have now two sessions to go of training, so I don't know by now. But it can be that Scott and Luke return in the squad, but [we are] not sure."

Alejandro Garnacho and Donny van de Beek remain long-term absentees.

Forest have several issues to contend with ahead of Sunday’s game: Moussa Niakhate and Cheikhou Kouyate were both forced off with suspected hamstring injuries during last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa.

Renan Lodi and Gustavo Scarpa could also be missing, as the duo missed the trip to Villa Park through injury. Dean Henderson, on loan from United, is ineligible to face his parent club and is also injured at present.

FORM GUIDE

United will be looking to return to winning ways after the 2-2 draw against Sevilla, having claimed victories in our last two league matches versus Everton and Brentford.

Alternatively, the home side haven’t won in the league since beating Leeds 1-0 in early February – tasting defeat in six of their last nine matches. However, they have proven tricky to conquer this season at The City Ground - losing only four times in 15 league games.

Cooper's side have taken points off Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City on home turf this campaign, so they will fancy their chances against Ten Hag's men on Sunday.
THE OFFICIALS

Simon Hooper will oversee proceedings at The City Ground, with Adrian Holmes and Simon Long manning the sidelines. Jarred Gillett is the fourth official, while Andy Madley heads VAR, assisted by Nick Hopton.

PAST MEETINGS

Forest have been a familiar opponent to United this season, with three victories to our name over Cooper’s side in 2022/23. Our reverse league meeting in December was Forest’s first visit to Old Trafford since Boxing Day in 1998, as goals from Rashford, Anthony Martial and Fred sealed the three points.

The Reds faced Forest again earlier this year, en route to winning the Carabao Cup. Ten Hag’s side defeated Cooper's men in at the semi-final stage, winning the first leg 3-0 at The City Ground before triumphing 2-0 at the Theatre of Dreams in the second leg.
