With the likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial missing, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side miraculously completed a one-of-a-kind comeback in Europe’s premier tournament – it was the only time any team has progressed after losing 2-0 at home in the first-leg.
It has to go down as one of the finest evenings on the continent in our glorious history and we’re giving you the chance to relive every nailbiting moment...
PSG 1 UNITED 3 (2018/19)
After the Parisians’ confident and comfortable showing at Old Trafford three weeks previously, few onlookers gave United a prayer when we travelled to the Parc des Princes shorn of 10 first-team players through injury and suspension. But the Reds were inspired, with unsung heroes like Scott McTominay and Fred supplying performances of stunning maturity, and Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku ruthless in attack.
The French champions dominated much of the play, but stellar defending from Chris Smalling, in particular, kept the Reds in it, and a Lukaku double put us within one goal of progressing on away goals. It came, via the most dramatic of incidents: a VAR-assisted penalty awarded in the dying minutes, after Diogo Dalot's speculative long-range shot was handled by Presnel Kimpembe. Following an agonising, interminable wait, Rashford stepped up and fired home one of the most joyous spot-kicks in the club's long history. It was a delirious finale to arguably the most thrilling European away since Sir Alex's retirement.
