Is Cristiano Ronaldo right?
We asked Cristiano Ronaldo where his stunning strike against Spurs ranked among his best Premier League goals.
When collecting the award for the Premier League Goal of the Month for March, the striker did not feel the astonishing blast past Hugo Lloris was worthy of too high a placing in his top-flight showreel at United.
"It would probably be in the first, let's say, 20s, maybe [top] 10," he declared. "I don't know, it's hard. I have to check the goals I scored in my career, which is a few! But probably in the 20s, in my opinion."
Ronaldo's Top 10 Premier League goals
Watch our countdown of CR7's best strikes in the English top flight...
In terms of the English top flight, however, it is probably fair to say the goal could break into the top 10. We watched each of Ronny's 96 league strikes for the Reds, across his two spells, and came up with a list of the 10 best, without this latest belter.
Of course, this is all subjective, but we leaned on our overall YouTube Top 10 of his United strikes, which featured five in the league. So we added another five, after careful deliberation, with efforts against Fulham and Aston Villa narrowly missing out.
Watch our video and decide yourself if you feel the howitzer past Lloris is worthy of a place among them.
10: Fulham (H) 2004/05
There were a couple of efforts against the Cottagers competing for a spot but we opted for his one, a banger from outside the box.
9: Brighton (H) 2021/22
Ronny took the shot early after advancing on goal with menace and it was past Robert Sanchez before he could barely move.
8: Tottenham (H) 2003/04
One from his early days as a Red, another hammer blow from the edge of the area.
7: Everton (H) 2007/08
As Christmas approached, this was a tense affair but he unleashed a thunderbolt that arced into the net in some style.
6: Sunderland (A) 2007/08
Soon after the Everton strike, this free-kick is worthy of any of his set-piece compilations as it found the top corner at the Stadium of Light.
5: Aston Villa (H) 2007/08
This was a vintage season for Ronaldo and a lovely backheel flick showed off his exquisite skill.
4: Tottenham (A) 2021/22
If ever you wanted a classic example of his technique, this far-post volley, timed to absolute perfection, would have to be high on the list.
3: Fulham (A) 2006/07
The pressure was on in the title run-in and time was very much running out when Cristiano powers down the left and slams in a memorable deflected winner.
2: Portsmouth (A) 2006/07
From way out at Fratton Park, the precocious winger unleashes a drive of real ferocity that flies in.
1: Portsmouth (H) 2007/08
You've seen it hundreds of times, no doubt, and admired this unerring free-kick into the postage stamp - which was all David James could do.
