Jess Park has won the Barclays WSL Goal of the Month award for January.

The Manchester United Women midfielder has been recognised for her sublime solo goal, during the 4-1 away victory over Aston Villa.

She overcame competition from team-mate Julia Zigiotti, who netted from a corner on the same afternoon, plus six other efforts scored across the division last month.

With United having just restored our lead in the Midlands through Elisabeth Terland, Park received possession from Melvine Malard on the edge of the Villans' box.

Another chance to watch Park's award-winning strike.

Our no.8 had three defenders around her, but danced inside on her right foot, rolling her studs over the ball to work a yard of space.

Another touch saw her edge clear of a chasing Villa player, and she then dispatched into the bottom corner, beyond Ellie Roebuck, with a swing of the left boot.

It was Park’s seventh and latest goal since she swapped the blue shirt of City for the red of United in early September.

Jess has quickly established herself as a fan favourite for Marc Skinner’s side, winning a team-high five Player of the Match accolades this term already, as well as the league’s Player of the Month prize, in October.

She was integral to our qualification for the Champions League play-off rounds and will hope to make an impact once again on Thursday evening, as we take on Atletico Madrid in Spain.
