Thompson: My heart is filled with gratitude
Former Manchester United youth-team player Joe Thompson says his heart is filled with gratitude following a huge response to the news of his ill health.
A proud husband and father, 35-year-old Joe is aiming to raise £250,000 to cover the costs of his ongoing treatment and to potentially discover the root cause of his recurring illness.

Thompson's message after cancer diagnosis
Academy product and MUTV regular Joe Thompson has some sad news - and an important message - to share with fans...
WE ARE ALL WITH YOU, JOE
During his candid interview with Zarah Connolly, Academy alumni Joe admits he is reaching out for help in his time of need.
“I have been in regular contact with the club,” he said.
“They have offered things that they might be able to help me with during my protocol and hopefully after, in the rehab phase.
“People don’t know the power of the message or a voicenote, or a phone call.
“It doesn’t have to be long, but we have got to a point where it has got really tough, and it is a bit of a cry or a call for the cavalry.”
Amazingly, over £70,000 has been donated since last Friday’s announcement and Thompson has shared a message of thanks via his official Instagram account.
“The response has been crazy, absolutely blown my mind,” wrote Joe.
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you, my heart is full of gratitude! My family feel supported and heard.”
