Jose Mourinho was pleased with his side's attitude during the 2-1 victory over CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford as two goals in 67 seconds by Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford earned maximum points.

Alan Dzagoev deflected in Vitinho's shot on the stroke of half-time to threaten United's position as top dogs in Group A but the second-half turnaround proved decisive for Jose's men. The manager was able to withdraw Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia and Romelu Lukaku, with youngsters Scott McTominay and Axel Tuanzebe getting another run-out.

A pat on the back for scorer Romelu Lukaku.

“I’m happy with the victory, the quality of performance and the attitude of the players,” he said. “We knew before the game we were [effectively] qualified and only because they have to play but they are proud to play.

"They don’t want to lose. They want to finish well and keep that good record at home in the Champions League matches. So I’m happy with everything – the attitude and quality of performance plus, obviously, the three points.”

The players showed a commendable attitude.

"I was not worried at half-time," he told MUTV. "I was disappointed with the result but not worried. The team was playing really well and controlling the game. It’s just a question of keep doing it in the second half and the goals would arrive. I was not worried at all as the players gave me reason – the performance was strong. Two goals and non stop, to create and to try."

Jose was happy with his players at Old Trafford.

The boss was inevitably asked if thoughts quickly move on to Sunday's derby with top-of-the-table Manchester City but he was adamant now is not the time to elaborate on the key fixture.

"Tomorrow is a day off and, on a day off, I don’t think about football," he asserted. "Only Thursday, will I start thinking about the derby.
