Zelem: We played at our own tempo
Manchester United captain Katie Zelem believes her side controlled play in the midfield, in today’s Women’s Super League victory over Brighton.
“That’s something we want to focus on - controlling the game and especially control in the middle of the pitch,” she told MUTV at full-time.
“I think in recent times, we’ve maybe gone forward too quickly and we haven’t been able to get a real foothold in the game.
“So something we want to focus on is being able to control the game and play at our own tempo, and I think we did that well today.”
Zelem: We're happy with the three points
Katie Zelem is pleased the Reds could take maximum points from our tough opponents Brighton...
“Nikita’s having an unbelievable season,” Zelem added, full of praise for her team-mate.
“I think she’s really filled that no.9 role. Her all-round aspects of the game are brilliant, [look at] how many goals she has scored already, and I’m sure there are plenty more to come.”
“Geyse on the right-hand side is just devastating,” she continued.
“I think most full-backs in the league won’t be able to deal with her. If we can get her on the ball, she’s creating so many chances for us. Her and Nikita were able to combine today, but I think she’s making other chances that we also have to finish.”

“I think we defended really well today,” reflected Zelem. “Mary [Earps] was still involved and contributed.
“I remember one very good save she made for us. That is what keeps us in games and keeps the clean sheets, and sets us in good stead for attacking.”
