Kopa Trophy 2024: How did Mainoo and Garnacho fare?
The final results of the 2024 Kopa Trophy have been announced at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris.
Kobbie Mainoo came third in the voting, while Alejandro Garnacho finished joint-sixth, level with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Joao Neves.
The Kopa Trophy, organised by UEFA and Groupe Amaury, owner of media outlets France Football and L’Équipe, is an award presented to the best performing player under the age of 21.
Barcelona's 17-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal was the winner of this year's prize, following in the footsteps of club team-mates Pedri and Gavi, who came out on top in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Yamal was brilliant for Spain as they won the European Championship in July and another star of the tournament, Arda Guler, was the runner-up this time around.
Guler's Real Madrid peers Kylian Mbappe (2018) and Jude Bellingham (2023) are past winners of the Kopa Trophy and our very own Matthijs de Ligt is another previous victor, as he was recognised for his efforts in helping Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.
Savinho and Pau Cubarsi finished fourth and fifth in the 2024 ranking, with Warren Zaire-Emery, Mathys Tel and Karim Konate joint-eighth.
Garnacho and Mainoo had been nominated for the first time, after establishing themselves as key players for Manchester United.
Both players scored at Wembley in our 2024 Emirates FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City and were also selected by their countries for the summer tournaments, with Mainoo starting the Euro 2024 final for England and Garnacho a member of the Argentina squad which won the Copa America for a record 16th time.
Well done to both players on all their achievements so far!
