Fixtures: Which teams have we never faced first?

The 2018/19 Premier League fixtures are released at 09:00 BST on Thursday and fans will be eagerly anticipating the identity of Manchester United's opening-day opponents.

New boys Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cardiff City and Fulham are among the teams who could be paired with the Reds when the 27th Premier League season gets under way on the weekend of 11 and 12 August.

Ahead of the announcement, we've compiled details of the last time United faced each of the 19 other Premier League clubs on the opening day, home and away.

Our research shows there are three sides the Reds have never met to kick off a campaign...

ARSENAL – 19 August 1989 (home, won 4-1); 23 August 1986 (away, lost 0-1).

BOURNEMOUTH – 14 August 2016 (away, won 3-1); never met on opening day away.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION – never met on opening day.

BURNLEY – 2 September 1893 (home, won 3-2); never met on opening day away.

EVERTON – 20 August 2012 (away, lost 1-0); 10 August 1968 (home, won 2-1).
