Latest training footage shows the Reds are sharp

Wednesday 27 May 2020 12:00

Our latest footage from the Aon Training Complex shows the Manchester United players looking sharp and working at a high intensity, while continuing to operate in small groups at all times.

As you can see in the exclusive video below, the Reds are being put through their paces by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's coaching staff and standards appear to be impressively high - which is a testament to the hard work that was completed throughout the lockdown period.

United strikers Odion Ighalo and Mason Greenwood can both be seen at lightning pace in a sprinting drill, before our no.1 David De Gea and his young understudy Nathan Bishop display their agility with a couple of eye-catching triple saves, with goalkeeping coach Richard Hartis watching on.

Bruno Fernandes and fit-again Paul Pogba are next up in our latest video, taking part in an energetic shooting drill that highlights their precise finishing in front of goal. The prospect of the two midfielders linking up for real - for the first time - is so exciting for Reds supporters around the world.

Diogo Dalot and Angel Gomes are also featured, as you will see, with each of the young Reds slotting low balls into the net from range.

Luke Shaw supplies a lovely cross from 01:31 and, in his latest diary entry, the powerful left-back provides a fascinating insight into the squad’s work at the Aon Training Complex over the last week.

“We’ve been split into different groups in different time slots – half of us in the morning, half in the afternoon – so I’ve mostly been seeing people that I’ve been in the same time session as,” he says.

“Each group trains maybe 15 or 20 minutes after each other and that gives us the chance to have a little chat and see how everyone else is. It’s nice to see the players and staff; everyone’s looking really good from what I’ve seen. A lot of good has come from this week.”
Expanding on the players who have caught his eye so far, Shaw continues: “Everyone has clearly got a high level of fitness, which shows how dedicated and professional we’ve all been during lockdown. I’ve been running with Jamo a lot – he was in my group to start with, and he looked really sharp.

“On Tuesday we saw the group of Paul, Bruno, Angel and Nemanja, and those four are looking very strong and very good. There was a lot of competition and shouting going on in that group. It’s clear that everyone’s still got that winning desire, even in training. We’ve missed that.”

We’ve got a treat for you! Ole Gunnar Solskjaer joins the panel to discuss our training return, Odion Ighalo and 1999...

In case you missed it on Tuesday, while appearing on our MUTV Group Chat programme, Solskjaer provided a positive update on the fitness of long-term absentees Pogba and Marcus Rashford.

“They’re looking good, they’ve joined training now and they’ve done everything the other boys have been doing,” explained the manager to reporter Stewart Gardner. “No reaction so far, touch wood. When we get started, it looks like we can have a full squad to choose from.”
