Less than a week until Rugby League World Cup finals at Old Trafford

There is now less than a week until the men’s and women’s finals of the Rugby League World Cup 2021 are hosted at Old Trafford.

The double-header final will be played at the Theatre of Dreams on Saturday, with the women’s game - between Australia and New Zealand - kicking-off at 13:15 GMT and the men’s game - between Australia and Samoa - following, at 16:00 GMT.

For the first time in the tournament’s history, the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments are being simultaneously delivered, with the competition having started on 15 October at St. James’ Park in Newcastle.

MANCHESTER TO CREATE SPORTING HISTORY

The five-week tournament is being hosted across many cities, with the North East kicking off the men’s competition while the women’s tournament started on November 1 at Headingley in Leeds.

The wheelchair event also began with a double-header that the Copper Box in London on November 3.

But it is Old Trafford which will play host to the double-header of men’s and women’s finals on Saturday 19 November.

Manchester will create further sporting history this weekend when Manchester Central, in the heart of the city centre, hosts the wheelchair final between France and England on Friday.
