Brandon Williams was a key force behind a welcome victory for Norwich City over Everton at the weekend.

The full-back was in top form and produced a barnstorming run that set up Adam Idah's goal, which proved to be the eventual winner in a 2-1 triumph over the Toffees at Carrow Road.

It was a fabulous piece of play by the defender, who intercepted a pass by Seamus Coleman and took full advantage in a really positive fashion.

"Brandon has been excellent all season," Idah told Norwich's official website. "We spoke before the game and he said he's going to give me an assist! So it worked out quite well."

Canaries boss Dean Smith added: "Brandon showed what a great player he can be with the interception and run." However, Williams sustained cramp in his calf and was withdrawn before the end of a game that turned out to be Rafa Benitez's last in charge of the Merseysiders.

Norwich are up to 18th place in the Premier League table, above Newcastle United and Burnley, and have a crunch fixture at Watford on Friday night.

Elsewhere in terms of the domestic loanees, Teden Mengi started for Birmingham in a 1-1 draw with Preston North End and James Garner helped Nottingham Forest earn a 1-0 away win at Millwall. Di'Shon Bernard played for Hull City in their 2-0 reverse to Stoke City on Sunday.

Remaining in the Championship, Ethan Laird's debut for Bournemouth was delayed due to an injury issue as the Cherries' promotion bid took a knock with a dramatic 3-2 loss at Luton Town.

Another Ethan, Galbraith, registered an assist for Omar Bogle's goal in Doncaster Rovers' 2-1 League One loss to Wigan Athletic. Former Reds Academy graduate Will Keane grabbed the second goal for the Latics.

Nathan Bishop kept goal for Mansfield Town and maintained a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Walsall in League Two but D'Mani Mellor was an unused substitute for Salford City, in a 2-1 defeat to Bradford City.
