The defender’s arrival from Swedish side Hammarby IF FF was announced last week, but today is the first time Reds supporters get to see her kitted out in the 2019/20 strip.
Speaking in her first interview with club media, Okvist reveals how welcoming her new team-mates have been.
“I’m excited to be here,”says Okvist.
“Manchester United is a special club and I think it is a good step in my career. The team and staff has been very welcoming.”
The 22-year-old is especially excited to join the Reds ahead of a maiden campaign in the Women’s Super League, which kicks off against Manchester City on Saturday 7 September.
“It’s great to be here in the first season in the league,” explains Okvist.
“I think it is a very competitive league and there are some great teams who I’m looking forward to playing against.
“The Manchester City match is a great game for the team and I hope the fans will enjoy it.”
Last week, United Women manager Casey Stoney praised her latest recruit.
“Lotta is a talented Swedish Under-23 international with huge potential and great character,
“ said the boss.
“She will add good balance and depth to our squad, and as a left-back she has great attacking qualities that will fit well with the way we like to play; we’re really happy to have her on board with us.”
