Luke reveals Player of the Month favourite

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw believes Mason Greenwood should be awarded the club’s Player of the Month award for April.

Our attacking full-back knows a thing or two about picking up this particular prize, having been named our best player in February and March by United fans.

However, Shaw is not in the running for April’s gong, with Victor Lindelof, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood earning the nominations this time around.

In April, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side went unbeaten and won six out of seven matches split between the Premier League and Europa League. Lindelof was at the heart of a solid United defence which kept three clean sheets during the month, while our two red-hot forwards found the back of the net five times each in seven outings.

Who will you go for? Three Reds have been shortlisted, after the Reds won six games from seven in April.

When Luke was asked who he thinks deserves April's trophy, the current holder plumped for the youngest candidate.

"They’ve all been brilliant but I’d have to give it to Mason probably," he said in an exclusive club interview before explaining the reason behind his selection.

"He’s grown as a player, day in, day out, improving so much. When he came into the first team he was scoring a lot of goals but I think his all-round game now is becoming more complete."

The Academy graduate has indeed been in lightning form in recent weeks. In the Premier League, the 19-year-old was the matchwinner against Brighton & Hove Albion at the start of the month, before he sealed our 3-1 win away at Tottenham Hotspur and netted a brace at home to Burnley.

On Thursday, the no. 11 rounded off our convincing 6-2 triumph over Roma in the Europa League semi-final, with a strike that made him the teenager with most goals in European competition for the club with seven.

In April, he’s scored goals with his left foot, right foot and his head, as the young forward showcased his natural finishing talent.

"He’s looking like a real top player even at such a young age," Shaw added about Mason.

"So I have to give it to him on how he is improving, what he’s doing and how important he is for our team."
