Made for Manchester - KSR

Wednesday 03 May 2023 14:21

While on set recently, we sat down with KSR, a local musician and devoted Red, to find out what he’s been up to and what his life is like as an emerging musician and passionate United fan.

During the latest shoot for our adidas x United Lifestyle Collection, which you can check out here, we discussed all things football and music with the local singer and songwriter, and here’s what he had to say.

What are you up to here at Old Trafford today?
“Today, we’re taking some photos of myself and my little cousin, Reemaal for the adidas lifestyle range.”

How are you finding it?

“Sick. I can’t even lie to you. The whole experience has been really, really good. Being able to have my cousin alongside me, as well, makes it even better. To be able to see him be behind the lens and stuff like that is so cool, and to be able to enjoy that with him.”
Tell us a little bit about your relationship with Manchester United?
"Well, both of us are big United fans. I don’t know who his favourite player is, but I can tell you who mine is: Marcus Rashford. Thank you for everything you’ve done so far, we appreciate you!

"This club just means so much to me, it has ever since I was a little kid. I remember coming to my first United game and actually being able to witness [Cristiano] Ronaldo play as well, which was a really good experience. It's just a club that just means a lot to me."

Have you got any other particular moments or memories that come to mind when you think about United?

"Do you know what memory really comes into my mind? Vividly. Weirdly, it's just come now. You know when we beat [Manchester] City, and [Scott] McTominay scored? That just meant a lot to me, I don’t know why, because it was a long time ago, but it meant a lot."

We’re more than just a football club, and being from Manchester, do you think United impacts what happens in our city?
"I think it does. You know, if we take it back to a long, long time ago, I feel like with all the triumphs and the success that Manchester United actually had, it definitely translated into the city and started to actually give belief to a lot of United fans. I feel like, if we look at it now, then the same thing and the same atmosphere is coming back again.

"We’re on the rise, both collectively as a club and as a squad, The atmosphere and the joy are coming back for all United fans, so this is just a moment that we’ve got to appreciate right now."

Does football affect your own creativity and what you do?
"Definitely! I can't lie to you, if Manchester United lose, my whole day’s destroyed, probably my whole week until the following weekend. But it's just one of those things, football’s really important to me.

"If United win, then it's a dreadful day [for opposition fans] I can't lie! For at least 48 hours, it’s friends, family, good smiles and joy. And just a whole lot of disrespect to other teams! But if United lose, it’s a bad 24 hours at least. So United, just keep winning for me, please."
Outside of football and music, do you have any other interests?
"Outside of football, I'm a big music fan. Again, I'm a singer-songwriter, so I've been singing for like maybe six years now, so, outside of football, that's my passion."

Give us one word to describe Manchester United.
"Glory."
