Maguire praises 'amazing' away support

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was full of praise for the travelling Reds who made the trip to Southampton on Sunday.

From before kick-off at St Mary’s, to the aftermath of the final whistle, the supporters inside the packed out away end made themselves heard as they returned in earnest for the first time in almost a year and a half.

Their encouragement was unwavering after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side went behind to an own goal in the first half and no doubt helped the team find a leveller though Mason Greenwood after the interval.

Taking to his official social media accounts, the United skipper said: “Was amazing to have you away fans back - disappointed we could give you the victory you deserved.”

He added: “Plenty to work on for next week.”

Although the Reds were not able to find a winning goal against the south-coast side, United did reward those who had made the journey down by equalling Arsenal’s unbeaten top-flight away record of 27 games.

Solskjaer's side now have the opportunity to top what that Gunners team achieved between April 2003 and September 2004 and create new history, if we avoid defeat in our next outing against Wolves at Molineux on Sunday (29 August).
