Who was United's Man of the Match v Liverpool?
Manchester United's opening Tour 2022 triumph over Liverpool was not only promising on a team-performance level, it also boded well for numerous individuals within the ranks.
The players have already been working hard on the training pitches at Carrington and more recently in Bangkok, with a view to impressing the new boss Erik ten Hag and staking a claim to be in his matchday squad when the 2022/23 Premier League campaign kicks off next month.
However, our first pre-season match represented the best opportunity yet to catch the manager's eye, not least because it pitted his side against a strong Liverpool squad that lifted both domestic cups last term.
Ten Hag's team rose to the challenge, soundly beating Jurgen Klopp's men 4-0 with some wonderful finishes from Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri. Goalscorers are often natural candidates for the Man of the Match award and as you can see below, one of them did in fact top our online poll...
His opening strike and all-round attacking play in a front three also featuring Martial and Marcus Rashford obviously struck a chord with the supporters, who will look forward to seeing how he builds on the latter half of last season when he was among the Reds' top performers.
Eric Bailly's solid second-half defending, to keep the likes of Mo Salah and new signing Darwin Nunez at bay in the Liverpool attack, led to him finishing runner-up in the poll with 28 per cent.

United's no.1 produced the first real save of the match, denying Liverpool's livewire winger Luis Diaz, before his opposite number Alisson was beaten three times prior to the multiple personnel changes at half-time.
Congratulations, Jadon, and thanks to everyone who voted.
