Manchester United players celebrate after scoring against Leicester City

Your Man of the Match from Leicester 2 United 2

Saturday 26 December 2020 16:26

With a goal and assist to his name, Bruno Fernandes has been voted Manchester United’s Man of the Match for the frustrating 2-2 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

The Portuguese playmaker set up Marcus Rashford’s opening goal on Boxing Day with an instinctive prod from a Daniel James pass, as the Reds made a bright start to this eagerly anticipated top-flight game.

While Fernandes was disappointed to then lose possession before Leicester’s first-half equaliser by Harvey Barnes, he made amends by netting from an Edinson Cavani assist in the second half.

Impressively, according to data guru Statman Dave, Bruno has now been directly involved in 52 per cent of United’s Premier League goals since his debut in February (31 out of 60).
Leicester rescued a draw from the clutches of defeat when Jamie Vardy’s shot deflected off Axel Tuanzebe late on, preventing what would have been our 11th straight top-flight away win.

Nevertheless, it is a decent point for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Reds and users of our Official App were quick to highlight Bruno’s performance when invited to name a Man of the Match.

The Portuguese playmaker earned 70 per cent of the votes cast and that was comfortably more than second-placed Marcus Rashford on nine per cent, as well as third-placed Fred on seven per cent.
