Thursday 25 November 2021 14:40

Manchester United begin the FA Youth Cup trail with a home game against Scunthorpe United on Monday 13 December.

The third-round tie will be played at Old Trafford, with admission details to follow as we hope to see a sizeable crowd to cheer the young lads on.

Kick-off is at 19:00 GMT and the game will be covered by MUTV, with clarification over whether this will be live or via highlights to be confirmed in due course after other TV picks are selected by BBC and BT Sport.

Scunthorpe set up the game by beating Shrewsbury Town and Guiseley in previous rounds.

The tie will represent Travis Binnion's first Youth Cup game as lead coach of the side in a competition very dear to the club.

Our last Youth Cup game at Old Trafford was against Wigan Athletic in the quarter-finals of the 2019/20 tournament, with a 2-1 triumph secured, thanks to goals from Shola Shoretire and Deji Sotona.

Last season, United were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool in the fourth round back in April, after winning 2-0 at Salford City. The Merseysiders went all the way to the final before losing to Aston Villa.

The holders host Leicester City at this stage of the competition, while Manchester City are at Middlesbrough and Liverpool entertain Fleetwood Town.
