The news of the Scot’s sudden illness in May shocked the world and messages of support flooded in from all corners of the globe.
In his personal message, Sir Alex thanked staff at Macclesfield, Salford Royal and Alexandra hospitals for their “great care” and acknowledged well-wishers “for the support you have given me” which “made me feel so humble”.
The video has been well received on social media, with many people commenting on the positive news that Sir Alex, who has been an important figure in so many footballing lives over the years, is recovering well.
Current and former Reds stars tweeted to say how pleased they were to see Sir Alex progressing in his recovery:
I had a nice conversation with the Boss last week and great to see he is making progress in his recovery. This comes quite close to our situation in 2009 when my wife Annemarie had a brain haemorrhage. He was very supportive as always in close contact the whole time. https://t.co/nLRhRHMqoi
