Training session may offer clues to Sunday's selection

Some possible clues were offered as to those in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans for Sunday's Premier League finale against relegated Cardiff City at Old Trafford.

The boss will be tempted to make changes to his line-up after the disappointing 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town last weekend, that ended our hopes of clinching a place in the top four of the division.

There is still the incentive of attempting to beat Arsenal to fifth place, with the Gunners a point ahead at present and facing a test at Burnley's Turf Moor.

Midfielder Jesse Lingard was involved despite his recent absence through injury, with keeper Sergio Romero also taking part after his knee problem kept him out of the squad at the John Smith's Stadium. 

There was also positive news on Mason Greenwood, as the 17-year-old striker hopes to be available again, with the boss previously suggesting he may get a run-out if he can prove his fitness.

Greenwood's fellow Academy youngsters James Garner, Angel Gomes, Dylan Levitt, Arnau Puigmal and Tahith Chong, who came off the bench against Huddersfield, also linked up with the first-team squad.

Levitt was shortlisted for the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year after breaking into the Under-23s set-up and impressing with his passing ability through the lines from midfield.

Puigmal is another tidy midfielder, although he has also regularly operated at full-back this term, who joined the club from Espanyol in 2017.

Ole will assess all of his options closer to kick-off against Cardiff (15:00 BST on Sunday) and he is likely to provide an update on the team news during Friday morning's press conference.
