Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named a strong side to take on Colchester United in the Carabao Cup.

The Reds are facing the League Two team in the last eight of the Carabao Cup, with Aston Villa already safely through to the semi-finals.

Oxford United play Manchester City and Everton entertain Leicester City in the other two ties.

United reached this stage by beating Chelsea in an impressive 2-1 away win at the end of October.

Mason Greenwood is bidding to continue is hot form at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has named just three players in his starting XI who began the victory at Stamford Bridge.

Sergio Romero, Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford, who scored twice in London, are the trio in question. Mason Greenwood is selected, after scoring three times in his last two appearances, against AZ Alkmaar and Everton. He also hit the net in his last Carabao Cup start against Rochdale in September.

Nemanja Matic starts his second game in the last three, having made his comeback against Alkmaar in the Europa League.

"Today is about giving some players more minutes," Ole explained to MUTV. "We know Anthony [Martial] has been out a while, Nemanja has been out a while, Luke [Shaw] has been out a while. We need them to get fitter."

There are appearances on the bench for youngsters Brandon Williams, James Garner and Tahith Chong. Ashley Young starts and will wear the captain’s armband.

United: Romero; Young (c), Tuanzebe, Maguire, Shaw; Matic, Andreas; Greenwood, Mata, Rashford; Martial.

Substitutes: Grant, Jones, Williams, Garner, Lingard, McTominay, Chong.
