Berrada explains his pride in United Women

Monday 31 March 2025 13:03

Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada has called on fans to show their support for United Women, as our young and exciting team continues to enjoy an excellent season.

Marc Skinner’s Reds are currently third in the Women’s Super League and need two more wins to secure a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Our next WSL match is away to West Ham United and, crucially, that will be followed by a highly-anticipated Old Trafford meeting with fourth-placed Manchester City - which could be a decisive fixture.

We also have an Adobe FA Cup semi-final against the Blues to come at Joie Stadium, with a place in the final at Wembley Stadium up for grabs.

Tickets for United Women’s upcoming fixtures at Leigh Sports Village and Old Trafford are available to buy here, with prices starting at £7.50.

"We are very proud of the team," says chief executive Omar Berrada, evaluating United Women's season so far...

Speaking to MUTV on Sunday, chief executive Berrada expressed his pride in the side’s progress this season. “It has been incredible,” he told Zarah Connolly.

“Credit to them for the season they are having, they are showing lots of grit and determination, they have the best defensive record in the league and they are doing really well, so we are very proud of the team.”

Skinner’s squad went through something of a transformation last summer and it is currently one of the youngest in the WSL, with so many promising players emerging into top-class talents so far this season. As Omar told us at Leigh Sports Village, it’s an incredibly exciting time.

“For sure, if you look at some of the big-name players that we lost last season, with some of the young players stepping up this year, Maya Le Tissier showing incredible leadership, Grace Clinton coming back from loan has had a massive impact, and other players as well, so I think Marc is doing a fantastic job. It is a team for the future and we are going to continue building.”

Berrada has called on United fans of all ages to get behind the women’s team during a pivotal time for the squad. “It's a really exciting team,” he explained.

“We have big games coming up against Man City in the FA Cup and the derby at Old Trafford. We are looking to host a big crowd for that and giving the team a final push they need to make it in the top spots and qualify for the Champions League next season.

“We need to really show the support for this team, for the incredible season they are having and it's really incumbent on us to be there to help them.”
