Telles shocks fans with unexpected talent
Keen-eyed followers of Alex Telles’s Instagram account may have noticed that football isn’t the only passion in the Brazilian’s life.
The Manchester United left-back has had some down-time during the international break, with the South American qualifiers in March being postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation on the continent.
While the hard work never stops and Alex has been pictured at the Aon Training Complex preparing to get back to domestic action with the Reds, he has also been keeping busy away from the pitch.
A few months ago, the former Porto man posted an image of himself with an acoustic guitar, and now Telles has confirmed his penchant for all things musical during his recent fans’ led Q&A, conducted alongside compatriot and team-mate Fred.
“Away from football, it's all about music for me,” confirmed Alex when asked by Karl D from Ireland about his favourite thing to do, aside from the sport.
“I really like playing instruments, I like singing, I've got some instruments at home and if a day, game or training session hasn't gone that well I like to be on my own in my music space.”
During his short Reds career, Alex has already shown how flexible he can be down the left-hand side, debuting as a wing-back in our 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain but often featuring as an attacking full-back in a back four.
That ability to turn his hand to anything is also evident when it comes to music, with the 28-year-old posting a video last year of him playing along to Bruno Mars’s When I Was Your Man on the piano.
It’s clear that Telles is no amateur and he tells us he practises quite a lot.
“I spend about two or three hours playing a song or listening to music,” he added.
“So my interest is playing instruments, it's what I most like to do when I'm not playing football.”
With our October 2020 signing having largely been unable to explore the local area due to the lockdown, it’s inevitable that home-based interests dominate his answers. And another hobby – which he also shares with Fred – has taken centre-stage recently in his time away from the game.
“I play video games obviously, it's impossible not to. We always play!”
“All day playing video games!” joked the central midfielder.
Stay tuned for more from the Fred/Telles Q&A over the coming days.
