Almost 150 Manchester United employees will take part in food deliveries to vulnerable families across Greater Manchester today as part of a Christmas campaign by the club’s Foundation and its partner FareShare.

About 80,000 meals have been produced over December by club staff in the Old Trafford kitchens from 33 tonnes of donated food, to ensure that local children and their families have enough to eat during the school holidays.

Club and Foundation staff, most of them volunteers, are taking a break from their own holidays to distribute the meals today.

The food drive is part of United’s Santa’s Red Helpers campaign which also involved the delivery of 7,000 festive gift packs to children across Greater Manchester and via United Supporters’ Clubs to youth charities in 13 countries on five continents, from Mexico and India, to Australia and Italy.
