Omonia Nicosia secure three points ahead of Thursday’s clash

Omonia Nicosia head into Thursday’s clash with Manchester United in good form, winning 2-0 away to Doxa on Saturday.

Goals from Bruno Felipe and Roman Bezus either side of half-time sealed three points and a win to lift Omonia into fourth place in the Cyrpiot First Division.

It is a third victory of the new campaign for Neil Lennon's side, and comes after they beat Paralimni 4-0 before the international break.

Omonia have certainly been building some momentum heading into Thursday's visit of United to the GSP Stadium.

After defeats in their first two Europa League group games, they are obviously under real pressure ahead of the tie.

Sheriff Tiraspol handed them a 3-0 home beating in their competition opener, before Real Sociedad narrowly won 2-1 in their second Europa League outing in Spain.

Felipe came close to helping Omonia to a draw against Sociedad after scoring in the 72nd minute, and with five goals in 10 appearances across all competitions, the 28-year-old  will likely be a key player for the Cypriot club against Erik ten Hag's side.

United will travel on the back of Sunday's 6-3 derby defeat against Manchester City, hoping to bounce back with a win.

While they are new opponents to us, the Cypriot Cup winners have previously faced our English rivals City and Arsenal in European competition, being defeated on both occasions.

The Reds will aim to get more points on board, following up our 2-0 victory against Sheriff last time out in the Europa League.
