See the celebrations in the image at the top of this page? That's how some fans will feel knowing that the Premier League is back this weekend.

Manchester United may travel to Sheffield United on Saturday but with the Merseyside derby and the tantalising meeting of Chelsea and Arsenal too, there is plenty to be excited about.

We broke up for the international break in fine fettle, thanks to Scott McTominay's late rescue act against Brentford, prompting scenes that only football can produce.

Two weeks, for any football fan, is far too long without seeing your club take to the field.

For most supporters of Premier League teams, it has seemed like something of an eternity since our clubs have played - and it is about time it returned.

The period between now and the next international break, which takes place in November, is an opportunity for teams to build up a head of steam going into that pause, to ensure they are in an advantageous position for the run up to Christmas and the New Year.

United are no different.

League matches against Sheffield United, Manchester City, Fulham and Luton Town await, with an added scattering of cup fixtures versus the likes of FC Copenhagen, Newcastle United and Galatasaray too.

Back-to-back football is what Premier League weekends are about. It's about going to watch your team play or, if you can't make it, sitting on the sofa all day and shouting at the television screen as if you can have an influence on proceedings.

It's about plans revolving around the football, as life plays a substitute role to the main event.

Saturday's match, under the lights at Bramall Lane, is a fitting climax to an action-filled day of top-flight football.

The Premier League is back, and isn't it great?
