Fans go wild for Bruno's selfless act v Baskasehir
Bruno Fernandes has been described as the best Manchester United signing of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, following his influential performance against Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday.
The Portuguese magnifico broke the deadlock with a thunderous first-time strike at Old Trafford and it meant he had reached 20 goals for the Reds in fewer games than any midfielder in history.
Fernandes went on to double the advantage with a simple finish, following a mistake from the goalkeeper.
Incredibly, when a penalty was won, Fernandes then had a chance to score his first United hat-trick, but he selflessly handed the ball to Marcus Rashford in an effort to build his team-mate’s goals tally.
Bruno was voted the Man of the Match by users of our Official App and, over on the club’s Facebook page, supporters were heaping praise on his display and contribution in a red shirt…
Dee Mata: “Bruno is a leader. A player who builds team morale, is not selfish and a player who motivates other players.”
Samuel Anozie: “Bruno Fernandes displays all the qualities of a leader and he has shown how selfless he is. He is a great guy, he works so much and does not call for praise - he believes in the team and not just in personal abilities or personal achievement.”
Eno-obong Icon: “This shows you that team work is better than individual work. Bruno believes that one day the hat-trick will come, but for now Marcus needed the goal more.”
Louis McMillan: “He is a proper footballer and someone who cares more about the team and the result than individual glory.”
Leslie Sawyers: “There was an excellent team spirit shown in this play in every way. Total selflessness from Bruno! Let's build on this United!”
Richard Hawkins: “Bruno is by far the best player we have signed in terms of passion and fighting for the badge!”
Sean Lee: “Bruno is the main talisman for the team. He cares about and fights for the team and club. There are no fancy social-media distractions. He is a truly inspirational leader. A legend in the making and despite only joining less than 12 months ago.”
